Meet our Former Interns

Almost 50% of our Financial Representatives in Central Ohio began their careers as interns.  Meet a couple of them below.

Brandon D. McIntyre
Financial Advisor

Brandon McIntyre is originally from Holland, Ohio (suburb of Toledo).  He moved to Columbus, Ohio to attend The Ohio State University, where he graduated in 2009 from the Fisher College of Business with a Bachelors degree in Marketing.
While attending a career fair for Fisher College of Business, he met the local campus recruiter for Northwestern Mutual.  He was invited to an internship overview seminar, where he met Ryan Johnson, College Unit Director.  What really excited him about this internship was the opportunity to run your own business, control your income and the appeal of no real boss to report to.  He decided to take part in the internship in 2008 while he was still attending OSU.  By the summer of 2009 he was a Power or 10 qualifier and winter of 2009 hit Target 20.  Because of his success in the internship Brandon decided to go full time with Northwestern Mutual after graduation.
The internship gave him a great understanding of the business and helped his overall confidence in knowing that he would succeed as a full time Financial Representative.  The internship was a great platform to help you structure your practice just like a full time Financial Representative does, it was a great test drive to decide whether or not he wanted this as a career.
He really enjoys the competition and the different benchmarks that are set for him, not only just internally in our Columbus office, but companywide.  Another aspect of being a Financial Representative that Brandon enjoys is the feeling he gets when he helps a client get into a better spot financially, it’s something that you just don’t get experience with on an everyday basis and truly appreciates that relationship.

Christopher M. Moore
Financial Advisor
Chris Moore grew up in Gahanna, Ohio.  He is a 2005 graduate of St. Charles Preparatory High School. Upon completion of high school, Chris attended Miami University, where he received his Bachelors in Finance and International Business.
Chris started the internship program with Northwestern Mutual as a graduating senior in 2009.  One of his friends had previously done the internship and said it was great industry experience; attractions were the ability to control your schedule and gain true entrepreneurial experience.  When Chris joined the internship program he really enjoyed the fact that he was not stuck in a cubicle all day and had the opportunity to run a practice just like a full time Financial Representative.  After achieving his Power of 10 status, Chris decided to go full time with Northwestern Mutual, end of summer 2009.
What he has enjoyed the most is the ability to create his own destiny. He strongly encourages those who have an interest in financial planning to look into our internship program, “It is a great way to test drive a career since you have the exact same responsibilities as a full time Financial Representative. This is a huge advantage and a way to jump start your career.”
Chris also enjoys having the ability to make an impact. Especially in an economic downturn, so many people need his help and his clients have appreciated everything he has done for them.  This profession has really helped him grow personally and professionally, and shown him a new way of communicating and working with client to better serve their needs.
